Pelican Harbor Seabird Station (PHSS) is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of sick, injured and orphaned wildlife in and around Miami's Biscayne Bay. While we specialize in seabirds, we will accept any injured wildlife that is brought to our facility.
Pelican Harbor Seabird Station (PHSS) was founded in 1980 for the purpose of rescuing and treating sick and injured brown pelicans on Biscayne Bay. Our founders started with just a tool shed and a handmade aviary for patient '01'. PHSS now takes in thousands of animals each year from across Miami-Dade County. We have developed a strong reputation for our work with Florida’s native wildlife. Our staff members provide educational programming to area schools and collaborate with other professionals on conservation research. Throughout its history the Seabird Station’s work has been funded entirely by private grants and donations. Your support will help us care for the growing number of animals brought to our facility.
Mission Statement
Pelican Harbor Seabird Station is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of injured, orphaned or displaced wildlife. Our focus is on birds with a specialty in Brown Pelicans. We achieve our goals through rehabilitation, education and conservation research. We provide information on resolving human-wildlife conflicts with our popular community education programs.

We value and appreciate the public trust regarding our quality of animal care. We use our resources wisely. We believe that education is a key component of wildlife rehabilitation and as such will use every opportunity afforded us to educate.
Injured Wildlife
We accept all injured wildlife, including mammals and reptiles, but no dogs or cats. Injured animals can be dropped off 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. If you have found an injured animal that you believe needs help, please bring it in or call us at 305-751-9840.
Visiting
- Our facility is open to visitors daily from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
- If you would like a guided tour, or would like to bring more than 6 people, please call in advance at 305-751-9840.
- Parking and admission are free, although donations are gratefully accepted.
- Our facility is handicap accessible, fun and educational for all ages.
